28 Times Cinema 2018

It’s this time of the year again where Europa Cinemas is looking for 28 young European film buffs to send to the Venice Film Festival! Do you want to win a trip to this prestigious festival? Be part of this year’s 28 TIMES CINEMA!

Since 2010 and co-organized with the LUX Prize (European Parliament) and Giornate degli Autori, this great initiative will turn the dream of 28 young European moviegoers to attend the Mostra del Cinema into reality! Moreover, they will constitute the Giornate degli Autori Jury and award a Prize to the best film of this dynamic and diverse selection.

To participate you need to fulfill the following criteria:


·         Regular moviegoers aged between 18 - 25 years,

·         Good ability to write articles and blogs,

·         Good knowledge of English (reading, written and spoken) to actively take part in the discussions around the films with film professionals,


Candidates’ application must include:


·         A VIDEO SELFIE in which the candidate explains “what cinema means” for him or her. He or

she should start the video saying “Cinema for me is…” and then develop his or her argumentation.

This video will help us to see how the candidate expresses himself or herself in English and his/her ability to “talk” about cinema. Quality and creativity of the video selfie is required!

Technical requirements:

- Videos have to be shoot in English,

-In high resolution (Full HD: 1920x1080 px) and with an excellent audio recording,

- Duration: 30 seconds,

- The videos should contain the following information: Name and country of origin.

- The videos should be sent to you via Wetransfer.


·         THE ATTACHED APPLICATION FORMto fill up and send including the following information:

- Personal information and skills,

- A detailed statement in which the candidate explains why he or she wants to become a juror in Venice. This could start saying “The main reason why I want to be juror in Venice is….”and then develop his or her argumentation,

- The most important things to consider as a jury member when watching a movie.

- Description of 3 scenes from 3 films they have watched recently; short review of a film recently released; top 5 of favouritefilms recently released.


The application form has to be completed in English and signed.

The selected Ambassadors will have to commit themselves to:

·         Be present in Venice before the start of the festival from Tuesday 28th of August to Sunday 9th September 2018 (festival dates: 29August- 8September),

·         Be a jury member for the films competing for the Giornate degli Autori,

·         Watch all the films presented in the Giornate degli Autori (approx. 15) and the LUX Prize 2018 competition. A festival accreditation (giving priority access to screenings of the Giornate degli Autori) will be provided,

·         Take part in the round tables discussions and debates with filmmakers and other guests,

·         Contribute to a blog, which will be specifically developed for this event,

·         Write a daily postcardfor the Europa Cinemas social networks,

·         Be an active Ambassador for the Lux Film Prize during the events organised after Venice in his or her own country.


The European Parliament will organize and cover the costs of accommodation and travel for each participant for the whole duration of the event (13 days) while Europa Cinemas will take care of their per diem. The arrival date is expected to be Tuesday 28th of August and the departure date Sunday 9th September 2018.
